Insurance for courier use
Its important for you and your customers to get the
right insurance. Their is two that you need and one optional one
and these are:
Courier Insurance - Vehicle Insurance
This insurance is a must have to be able to use a
vehicle on the road and is a legal requirement. When contacting
the insurance company you must state that it is for courier
use. A common mistake is to say its for business use which
is not the case. The reason for this is that you will be carrying
goods for other people for profit and the insurance company must
know this for your quote.
Goods in Transit - GiT
This insurance is a must have as well. It's usually
pretty cheap and is not worth scraping a few pound for a lower premium.
This protects you in case you damage your customers goods and generally
cover goes up to £10,000 but this can be arranged to be higher
if you are carrying more expensive packages. your insurance company
might cover this as well or you can go to a specialist company.
Public Liability
Don't quote me on this but I think this is an optional
insurance you can take out. It covers you for things like dropping
a heavy box on a clients foot for example. But that doesn't mean
you can do it on purpose!!
With the top two insurances in place you are ready
to go but how do I get the jobs you may be asking.
