Intoduction to becoming a courier

Starting a courier business is said to be one of the esiest and most profitable to start, Their is minimum skills required and most people already have the equipment to start straight away and overhead costs are minimum.The job itself usually includes picking items up from your customer and delivering it to a destination of their choice. These items can be of varying size ranging from a few peices of important paperwork upto a pallet of boxed letter heads. Below is a list of basi requirements to get started.

Basic Requirements for becoming a courier

To start with the obvious one is a good vehicle usually a minimum of about 6 years old. The size is not really important as you can carry anything from a spare set of keys upto a pallet of products. Their is usually enough work available to be able to use a hatchback car. But obviously this limits you to what you can carry.

The next is one of the rare things of a Mobile Phone, now if you can manage to get hold of one (lol) of these from the many shops out their thats great but most people have got one of these anyway and will be a major factor in your business.

A computer is a good thing to have aswell but is not a nesesity, I will explain later how you can save money by having your own computer.

Insurance is also important and i will explain more later on.

Last but not least is Fuel. In many of the guides I have read on being a courier they never seem to mention this critical factor in a courier business, maybe im stating the obvious but it is easilly overlooked when you are thinking about the prospect of running your own courier business and your fuel cost can be high.
